Patina check of the natural veg tan from our friends at the Lo Stivale tannery in Tuscany. It’s interesting to observe the different characteristics of the leathers we use. Each develop and age differently, depending on a variety of factors, such as the composition of the tanning liquor used, type of natural vegetation/ tree bark, environment that the cattle are raised etc. As it’s a natural process exact consistency is, thankfully never achievable, which makes every hide unique. In today’s times a lot of Leathergoods available use chemically tanned leathers, as basically it’s a much faster, much more cost effective method to produce leather. We believe it’s important to recognise the difference, and the environmental impact of your purchase.
